The HOUSE MOUSE is not always quiet! People hearing a mouse in their house often
mistake it for larger rodents. It can move around easily in cavities following water
pipes and wiring. A mouse can squeeze through a hole only 1/4” wide
Why can rodents be a hazard?
Rats and mice like to live in a warm dry place with lots of food and water to hand
- JUST LIKE US! In fact they often in the same house as us which can cause all sorts
Rats and mice PEE continually, leaving urine, which carries disease, wherever they
go. Rats carry many diseases, the most well known being WEIL'S DISEASE
- a bacteria which causes serious kidney damage and even death
in humans and other mammals.
As their teeth do not stop growing they must keep
GNAWING to keep them short. They can chew through
very tough materials. In attics they
can chew through electric cables
and water pipes.
The most common rats are BROWN RATS. They are intelligent, beautiful animals and
can multiply quickly. A rat can start breeding at 3 MONTHS, having 7 or 8 young four
or five times a year. HUNDREDS of rats can build up very quickly.

with these adversaries.
After living with wasteful humans for thousands of years, rodents are well adapted
to living with us.
